Immunohistochemistry

The immunohistochemical detection of antigens in human tumors by use of specific antibodies offers useful information about their histogenesis, differentiation and in some cases, prognosis. A limited repertoire of highly selective antibodies is available for immunohistochemical studies on paraffin-embedded tissue. The initial focus will be on benign and malignant conditions involving urologic organs. The current list of antibodies offered includes:

  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
  • Prostatic Acid Phosphatase
  • Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA)
  • High molecular weight cytokeratin 34BE12
  • QuadVysion (34BE12, p63, Racemase and c-myc)
  • MIB-1 and PCNA (proliferation markers)
  • p53, c-myc, and bcl-2 (oncogene and tumor suppressor gene products)
  • CD34 (angiogenesis marker)

Bostwick Laboratories will provide these services to the academic and biotechnology industry research communities at a highly competitive price with rapid turnaround times. In collaboration with CYTOGEN Corporation, we offer immunostaining for PSMA in paraffin-embedded tissue. PSMA is also the target antigen for the monoclonal antibody 7E11 used in ProstaScint®, a prostate cancer imaging agent. PSMA may be of clinical utility in the diagnosis of extraprostatic spread of prostate cancer as well as a potential target antigen in the immunotherapy of prostate cancer. New antibodies are constantly being added to our list of available tests. Please check our website periodically to see the latest list.
